When it comes to hard stories, our Writer in Residence, author Michele Cushatt has had more than her share to tell. Pulling from her uncommon life story, Michele released her first book, a memoir titled Undone: A Story of Making Peace With An Unexpected Life, with Zondervan Publishers in 2015. Her second book, a devotional written in the brutal months after her third round of cancer, is titled I Am: A 60-Day Journey To Knowing Who You Are Because of Who He Is, and it released January 2017.

She recently completed final edits for her third book, slated to release in 2019.

3. Comfy clothes (Jeans are as fancy as you need to get. We’re in the mountains.)

4. Hiking boots if you want to go for an extended walk

5. Headphones if you want to listen to music (or just want to tune out the world)

6. Your favorite pen and notebook

8. Your favorite lip balm and hand lotion (it can get dry up there)

9. Allergy medicine if needed (there is a house dog and cat)
